Florida Fire Department Shares Photos Of Some Of The 100+ Pets They’ve Rescued In The Aftermath Of Hurricane Milton

Saving our furry friends. Florida is working to recover after being hit by Hurricane Milton earlier this week, which made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida and left many areas along the Gulf Coast underwater. Ahead of the storm, an infuriating video went viral of troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol rescuing a dog that had been chained up to a fence along side of the road: https://twitter.com/FHPTampa/status/18440360692195740 But now that Milton has passed, rescue crews are hard at work not only helping out the people who have been affected, but also the pets who found themselves stranded. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue in Tampa has already rescued over 100 pets so far, and photos of just some of the poor animals that they were able to help out. "After Hurricane Milton, our teams have rescued 104 pets so far, ensuring that no one—human or animal—is left behind. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve and protect all members of our community, big and small." Now, hopefully these aren't pets like the dog chained to the fence that were abandoned by their owners. But it's great to see that they're safe and going to be taken care of.
