Calling in a favor from the great Willie Nelson . ACL Fest is wrapping up this weekend in Austin, Texas, with back to back weekends of great music from Sturgill Simpson, Blink 182, Dua Lipa, Silent Disco, Tyler the Creator and of course, the great Chris Stapleton. Chris headlined both Friday nights, but this past weekend, he treated fans to a special guest... none other than Austin's own resident country music legend... Willie Nelson. Willie pulled up a stool and sat in with Chris and his wife Morgane, for a performance of "Whiskey River," and "Bloody Mary Morning." "Whiskey River" is of course a cut from Willie's critically-acclaimed Shotgun Willie record, released in 1973, where "Bloody Mary Morning" came a little earlier. First written and recorded by Willie, it was inspired by his own struggles to become a “better parent.” It was originally released in 1970 as "Bloody Merry Morning," and then later included on his 1974 album
Phases & Stages as "Bloody Mary Morning." If there such a thing as a better surprise guest, I'm not sure who it is... check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1go8Hoa-27w&pp=ygUQd2lsbGllIHN0YXBsZXRvbg%3D%3D
