Ready for another portrayal of Johnny Cash on the big screen? Prior to this new Bob Dylan biopic titled A Complete Unknown , the only notable time that someone tried to take on the persona of the "Man in Black" for a movie was Joaquin Phoenix in Walk the Line . His role as Johnny Cash was widely respected, and it obviously helped to make the 2005 film a hit. Phoenix undoubtedly nailed the Folsom Prison performance that they recreated in the movie. Funny enough, the man who directed that movie is also the director of the forthcoming Bob Dylan biopic, which hits theaters on December 25th. So if you liked what he did with Johnny Cash in Walk the Line
, the chances are good that you'll respect what he does with Cash in A Complete Unknown . This time around, the country legend will be played by American actor Boyd Holbrook, who has previously starred in Narcos, and movie like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and The Bikeriders . In one of the more recent trailers to come out, they finally showed a glimpse of his Johnny Cash portrayal, and needless to say, it got some fans even more excited to go see the movie. Around the 1 minute and 50 second mark, you'll see Johnny Cash (Holbrook) smoking a cigarette while talking to Bob Dylan (Timothée Chalamet): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdV-Cs5o8mc First off, it really looks like Chalamet did a great job morphing into - and singing as - the great Bob Dylan. Secondly, there's a chance I go see the movie during the first week its out just so I can see some more of Holbrook's Johnny Cash. We didn't get a lot in that trailer, but we got enough to get people excited:
"Johnny Cash just got dropped like Einstein in the 'Oppenheimer' trailer" "Love Boyd Holbrook and excited to see him as Johnny Cash." "Johnny Cash is revealed at the end of this trailer like he's a MCU cameo." "They missed the opportunity of having Joaquin Phoenix playing Johnny Cash once again but I am still happy Johnny is going to be in the movie." "James Mangold made a coming of age story about Johnny Cash. Now he uses this character as the wise person why gives advice in another story. James Mangold has earned the right to do so."
