Every Morning For The Last 8 Years, Neal McCoy Has Live Streamed The Pledge Of Allegiance On Facebook

Proud to be an American. Neal McCoy has started his morning the same every day over the last eight years, remembering how great it is to live in the United States of America. When McCoy gets up each morning, he grabs his phone and opens Facebook to start a live stream. And the live stream is the same every morning: he waits for fans to join and then recites the Pledge of Allegiance. In 2016, when the political environment became more divided, McCoy started his new routine. Unpleased with seeing how the nation was handling differences of opinion among the two political parties, he started reminding people that we live in a free nation. “In my Facebook page, I just wrote the Pledge of Allegiance out, and that was it. And I started getting some comments like, ‘Hey, that’s cool. Are you OK?’" McCoy told the Longview News-Journal earlier this year. Since that day of posting the Pledge of Allegiance's words, he promised to say the pledge every day in one way or another. McCoy did his first live stream later that year and has been consistent with them daily ever since. "Saying the pledge with Neal,” as some fans call it, has now become part of their daily routine. But for McCoy, it's more than reminding fans that we live in a free nation; it's a time when fans and viewers can find unity among the strong political divide in our nation. “The hope that they may get from it is hoping that them and me, like-minded people like us, have not given up on this country. You know, even though you don’t always love what’s going on, it’s still a million times better than any other country.” On January 7th of this year, it marked eight years since McCoy started his routine and said the pledge for the 2,924th time. With thousands of fans tuning in every day, he has made an impact on each fan that has joined his daily routine. Neal McCoy's simple routine unites viewers and puts political differences.
