News Bites for July 15... … Bonneville’s KIRO Seattle is celebrating 50 years of its “News Radio” format. KIRO (710) debuted a news format July 15, 1974. In 2008, the format shifted to KIRO-FM (97.3), where it remains today. The 710 signal is sports-formatted as “Seattle Sports.” To celebrate the anniversary, KIRO-FM hosted a special edition of “Seattle’s Morning News” on Monday. Bill Yeend, the first morning news anchor from 1974, returned to the station for the event and was joined by other prominent alumni.
