Fatal Crash in White County during Thursday's storms
Georgia State Patrol (GSP) continues to investigate a fatal crash from White County late Thursday along State Route 115. GSP Captain Burns says a Jeep Grand Cherokee hydroplaned during heavy rainfall along SR 115 at Ed Lewis Road in Cleveland Thursday afternoon, after 5:45 p.m. Captain Burns says the Jeep began to rotate, before being struck by a Porsche Macan. The crash forced the Porsche to travel back into a Ram 1500 pickup truck on SR 115.
Heavy Rain Contributes To Fatal Crash West o Cleveland Thursday
(Cleveland)- The Georgia State Patrol reports that one person was killed in a three-vehicle accident west of Cleveland Thursday afternoon. Captain Michael Burns, GSP Public Information Director said preliminary details from the accident report are that the accident was reported at 5:49 PM on Georgia 115 at Ed Lewis Road, in White County.
UPDATE- Thursday Afternoon Accident Victim Identified
(Cleveland)- The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate a fatal three-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday afternoon west of Cleveland that claimed the life of a Cleveland woman. Complete details have not yet been released by GSP but White County Coroner Rick Barrett has identified the woman who died as 34-year old Bailey Gabler of Cleveland.
Sautee Nacoochee Center Awarded Two Grants from Georgia Council for the Arts
The Sautee Nacoochee Center was recently awarded an Arts Education Program Grant and a Bridge Grant from Georgia Council for the Arts for fiscal year 2025. The Arts Education Program Grant supports arts programs for K-12 students and also helps fund programs from visual arts to music or theater, to dance and creative writing.
Water Leak At White County’s Mauney Building Causes Some Damage
(Cleveland)- No major damage was reported following a water leak in the White County Government’s Mauney Community Services Center, north of Cleveland. Bryce Barrett, Public Information Officer for White County said Friday, shortly after midnight, a 911 Dispatcher discovered the leak and promptly alerted the proper administration, who were able to locate the source of the leak.

White County Commissioners Approve SPLOST VI Agreements
(Cleveland)- The White County Board of Commissioners in a called meeting Tuesday afternoon approved a resolution that enables the county with the approval of the cities of Cleveland and Helen to move forward with the process of holding a referendum in November to ask the citizens to continue the current one percent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).
