Carmi DMV Facility Moving to New Location
The Carmi location of the Secretary of State’s Driver’s License facility was set to close today, however, they now have a new location. llinois Secretary of State, Alexi Giannoulias announced the opening of a new DMV facility in Carmi will be located at White County Center at 1700 College Ave. and will open to the public beginning on Friday, June 28th.
Browning Behind Bars on Third Trespassing Arrest in just over 8 Months
A Carmi man with a history of alleged trespassing is back behind bars this morning on fresh charges. 47-year-old William Browning is lodged in the White County Jail awaiting a hearing in White County court after Carmi Police arrested him at 2:07am Friday. The latest incident occurred at 203 Burrell Street. Browning resides on 6th. Already this year, Browning has been convicted of Criminal Trespassing to Land from an incident on March 10th. In that case, he was found guilty, given 2 years conditional discharge, a 6 month stayed jail sentence, and fined. On March 14th, Browning was charged with Disorderly Conduct and that charge ended up being dismissed. In October of last year, Browning was arrested for Criminal Trespassing on Land and that charge was dismissed in November. In April of 2023, Browning was charged with Domestic Battery and subsequently given probation, sentenced to public/community service, ordered into Anger Management, and given a 6 month stayed jail sentence. That ended up being revoked and Browning spent about 5 months in jail after the October incident.
Pinkney Arrested on Domestic Battery Charges; Terrell Signs Criminal Damage Complaint
A Carmi woman is waking up behind bars in the White County Jail after Carmi Police arrested her on Domestic Battery charges late Wednesday night. 35-year-old Nicole Pinkney of 808 West Sycamore was arrested just before midnight at her home after authorities were called. The alleged victim was an 18-year-old white male. In August of last year, Pinkney was charged with two counts of being a guardian knowing and willingly permitting a child in her care to persist in truancy. She had a first appearance on those charges back in April of this year, was formally arraigned June 11th, and has a pre-trial scheduled for September.
