FFA members learn skills for leadership at camp
The White County FFA Chapter took 10 members to Tennessee FFA State Leadership Development Camp, at Camp Clements, in Doyle. Members spent the week of June 17-21, 2024, at the camp to develop their leadership and teamwork skills. The members had classes they attended based on their FFA officer position or knowledge of FFA, and the classes helped broaden the members’ knowledge and skills needed to fulfill their positions. They had opportunities to participate in team-building exercises like the ropes courses where members had to work together to get everyone through the obstacles and games. Crash on Memorial Highway
South Group departments (Doyle Volunteer Fire Department and Central View Volunteer Fire Department - Walling/Quebeck/Mt. Gilead), along with Sparta-White County Rescue Squad, White County Sheriff's Office, and Warren County Emergency Medical Service, responded to a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment, on the evening of July 3, 2024, on Memorial Highway, just South of Cole Road. It took several minutes to locate the vehicle due to it leaving the roadway and traveling down an embankment, then approximately 100-150 feet into the woods. Departments worked quickly to free the patient by removing trees and brush before making access to the passenger compartment. The patient had only minor injuries.
Election Commission
The White County Election Commission will meet on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in the Election Commission office, 2nd Floor, Room 215, White County Courthouse, 1 E. Bockman Way, Sparta, TN 38583. The purpose of this meeting is to review/approve voter registrations, and any other pertinent business and offer time for public comment.
