    OBITUARY: Evan Duane Curtis

    Evan Duane Curtis, age 90, loving father and grandfather, of White House went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Hendersonville Medical Center.

    He was born March 25, 1934 in Tompkinsville, KY to Walter Vernie & Flora Mae Bartley Curtis.

    Mr. Curtis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1994, after 36 years of dedicated serviced service as a sales representative for U.S. Tobacco. He enjoyed the fellowship of his friends as part of the Breakfast Club at Hardee’s in White House.

    He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan and was also a NASCAR fan, especially if his favorite driver, Harry Gant. was competing. He loved playing cards with his church friends and was affectionately known as “the candy man” because he gave out candy to all of the children and many others as well.

    He enjoyed vegetable gardening, watching The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune, eating Little Debbie snack cakes and visiting The Mint at Kentucky Downs for a little gambling. The thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

    He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Jackie Curtis; daughter, Renee Priest; 2 brothers, Ralph and Leroy Curtis.

    He is survived by his son, Tommy (Vera) Curtis, Orlinda, TN; mother of his children and lifetime friend, Nina Curtis; brothers, Randall Curtis, Tompkinsville, KY and Jacob (Charlene) Curtis, Bowling Green, KY; sister, Tildon Murphy, Tompkinsville, KY; 7 grandchildren, Chrissy (Brandon) Shanks, Ashley (Dave) Thompson, Paige (Paul) Bryant, Caity (Tyler) Yokley, Matt Priest, Chelsea (Terrence) Kirk and Ryker Curtis; 15 great-grandchildren.

    A Celebration of Life Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11 am at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation is planned for Saturday, July 20, 2024 10 am-11 am at the church prior to the service.
