Highpoint Health Announces Plans to Bring Emergency Care Location to White House

Highpoint Health intends to file a Certificate of Need application to build a free-standing emergency department (FSED) in White House, Tennessee—the first emergency care location in the growing community.

The proposed new facility, to be named Highpoint Health White House – ER with Ascension Saint Thomas, would be located at the northwest corner of North Sage Road and Maiden Lane, half a mile from Exit 108 off interstate 65. The ER would be open 24/7, have six rooms, be staffed with board-certified emergency trained physicians, and have an on-site lab, X-ray and CT imaging.

“White House is experiencing significant growth, and the healthcare needs of its residents are evolving,” said Rod Harkleroad, market president of Highpoint Health. “The addition of a free-standing emergency department would provide immediate, high-quality emergency care that the community deserves. This facility is not only essential for White House but will also support surrounding communities and rural areas experiencing similar growth.”

White House is a rapidly growing community with increasing healthcare needs, especially emergency care. With more than 15,000 residents—and rising—the demand for accessible healthcare services continues to grow. The local demographic primarily consists of families with children and mothers of child-bearing age, making nearby emergency care crucial.

The proposed emergency department would offer immediate, quality emergency care and would also connect community members to services at nearby Highpoint Health – Sumner and locations within the Ascension Saint Thomas network to provide enhanced continuity of care when needed. The proposed location would also create new job opportunities for local residents, contributing to the economic growth of the area.

This proposed new facility would help to ensure that the community’s healthcare needs are met efficiently and effectively.”

If the project is approved at the state level, the emergency room would open in summer 2025.
