    WMVFS Food Truck Tuesdays

    Spend the day with neighbors and support the White Marsh Volunteer Fire — EMS. Food, drinks, dessert and live music will be available at “Food Truck Tuesdays” events every Tuesday through August 27, 2024. Food trucks rotate weekly and include local favorites like Once Upon a Potato, Farm to Fork, Don’s Dogs, Mr. Souvlaki, Conrad’s, Jimmy’s Seafood, Miss Twist, Kona Ice, Love Pudding and more. Proceeds from alcohol and soda sales at Food Truck Tuesdays directly support White Marsh Volunteer Fire — EMS, allowing the organization to keep the station running smoothly and efficiently to serve the community. Festivities will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday, and will be held rain or shine. White Marsh Volunteer Fire — EMS is located at 10331 Philadelphia Road in White Marsh.

    BCPL Summer Reading Challenge

    Explore the wonderful world of books with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” Children of all ages can join the challenge and log their reading on Beanstack or a paper game board. Read for 10 hours to pick up a completion prize and enter in prize drawings. Join BCPL for the start of Summer Reading on Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cockeysville Branch, with a fun day of performances, activities and giveaways.     CCBC-Essex Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre

    Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, in residence at CCBC-Essex, will perform Jerry’s Girls, featuring music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, concepts by Larry Alford, Wayne Cilento and Jerry Herman, June 14 — June 30. All performances will be held at the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center, Cabaret Theatre at CCBC-Essex, located at 7201 Rossville Blvd. Jerry’s Girls celebrates the musical genius of Jerry Herman. Journey through the melodies that have become iconic in the world of musical theatre, including selections from Mame, Hello Dolly!, Mack and Mabel and La Cage aux Folles. Jerry’s Girls is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals.

    Jerry’s Girls performance schedule:

    June 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m.June 16, 23 and 30 at 3 p.m.

    GLMMAM Bus Trip

    The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum will be sponsor a bus trip to the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va., on June 22. Hosted by veteran astronaut Dr. Thomas Jones, this event will run from 8:30 a.m., which is when the bus will depart from the museum, to 4:30 p.m., which is the scheduled time of arrival back in Middle River. Upon arrival a guided tour will be scheduled featuring a commentary about the Space Shuttle Discovery, the status of Flak Bait and more. Tickets are $60 for members and $80 for non-members of GLMMAM.

    Summer Meal Distribution

    Provided by Baltimore County Public Schools and USDA Summer Food Service Program, meals are available Monday through Friday and must be eaten in the branch. Meals will be served at the following locations (within the Essex vicinity) and times:

    Essex: 12:30 — 1:30 p.m.North Point: 12:30 — 1:30 p.m.Parkville-Carney: 12:30 — 1:30 p.m.Perry Hall: noon — 1 p.m.Rosedale: noon — 1 p.m.White Marsh: noon — 1 p.m.

    Please note that the lunch program is for youth 18 years old and under and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Meals must be eaten at the branch. The lunch program cannot accommodate groups, such as camps, childcare centers, etc.

    13th Annual BRRC Golf Tournament

    The Back River Restoration Committee is preparing for its yearly golf tournament fundraiser, scheduled for June 28 at Rocky Point Golf Course in Essex. Registration will begin at 6:45 a.m. and shotgun will begin at 8 a.m. Individuals may register for $125 and four-person teams may register for $500. There will be prizes, an award ceremony, a luncheon and more activities as BRRC prepares for one of its most notable events of the year. Additional details are available at www.savebackriver.org.     Book Sale and Thrift Store

    Zion Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Christ is inviting its membership and the public to upcoming monthly used book sale and thrift shop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, in the church hall. Future second Saturday sales are planned for Aug. 10, Sept. 14 and Oct. 12 (weather permitting). The church is asking the community to mark their calendars and to participate in the upcoming fundraiser for some great bargains. Zion United Church of Christ is located at 7146 Golden Ring Road is Essex.

    BCPS Summer Graduation

    Baltimore County Public Schools’ graduation for students enrolled in summer courses will occur on Aug. 8 at 10 a.m., at George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology in Towson. Families will receive more detailed information regarding their children’s graduations from their schools.

    Monday, Sept. 2, to Friday, Sept. 6

    Wildwood, N.J. Extravaganza

    The Dunfield-Fullerton AARP No. 3822, based in the White Marsh area, is sponsoring a five-day, four-night bus trip to Wildwood, N.J. The trip includes round-trip motorcoach transportation, four nights oceanfront accommodations, four full breakfasts, a Franconi’s pizza luncheon, a Cool Scoops ice cream social, four dinners, a visit to an Atlantic City casino with a voucher, a Dolphin Watch boat cruise, a visit to Stone Harbor, N.J., a visit to Cape May, N.J. including the Cape May Zoo, and a guided Doo-Wop tour of Wildwood. All taxes, baggage and gratuities are included. The cost of the trip is $717 for double occupancy and $937 for single occupancy. A $250 deposit is due at the time of the reservation.     WMVFC Fields of Fire Country Concert

    White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company is preparing for its annual Fields of Fire Country Concert benefiting its fire and emergency medical service operations in Baltimore and Harford Counties.

    Presented by Merritt Properties and White Marsh Volunteer Fire-EMS, the 2024 Fields of Fire Country Concert will bring a night of music featuring headliner American Country Music-nominated Nashville recording artist Dylan Scott to the grounds and in the “field” of White Marsh Volunteer Fire-EMS, located at 10331 Philadelphia Road in White Marsh. The local opener will be Olivia Reynolds, a country artist from North East, Md., with others to be announced.

    Tickets can be purchased online at wmvfc.org/concert. Options include pit, general admission and seated. Proceeds from Fields of Fire 2024 directly support the operation, maintenance and upkeep of the station, its equipment and supplies — allowing White Marsh Volunteer Fire-EMS to keep the station running smoothly and efficiently to serve the community, every hour of every day.
