Baltimore County Public Schools officials have announced the school system is seeking parent and staff volunteers to serve on two committees: one based in eastern Baltimore County and the other on the west side.

These committee members would be tasked with studying boundary lines affecting the Holly Manor community in Catonsville and the Greenleigh residential development currently under construction between White Marsh and Chase.

The purpose of the Greenleigh boundary study is to realign school boundaries of the Greenleigh development to reduce potential transportation issues.

Parent committee members should have children attending either Chase or Vincent Farm elementary schools, according to BCPS officials. Those interested in participating on the Greenleigh community boundary study committee should complete the Committee Member Interest Form or contact the principal at Chase or Vincent Farm schools.

The Holly Manor study’s purpose is to realign school boundaries at the dead-end section of Beaumont Avenue in Catonsville; parent committee members should have children attending either Hillcrest or Westchester elementary schools, BCPS officials said.

Those interested in participating on the Holly Manor boundary study committee should complete the Committee Member Interest Form or contact the principal at Hillcrest or Westchester schools.

Two parents and one staff committee member per school are needed for both committees. Those interested in serving on either committee should express interest by Monday, July 15.

Committee members for both studies will be selected this summer and will convene in September 2024. Between September and November, both groups will meet three times, including the hosting of public information sessions for both studies.

In March, April, and May of 2025, the Baltimore County Board of Education of is scheduled to receive both committee recommendations, hold public hearings about each and act on both recommendations.

More information on the role and responsibilities of the boundary study committee members, on how to stay informed throughout the process, and on providing feedback may be found on both the Holly Manor Community Boundary Study and the Greenleigh Community Boundary Study webpages.

Spanish translation services will be provided at each meeting. Additional translation services will be made available upon request to the Office of Strategic Planning if received at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled meeting time.
