Juneau police release names of officers involved in downtown shooting
The Juneau Police Department has released the names of four officers involved in last week’s deadly shooting downtown. A standoff between law enforcement and Steven Kissack, an unhoused man, on Front Street on July 15 ended when Kissack made a sudden movement and officers shot him. Police say he was lunging at an officer while holding a knife.
Soldier, 29, dies after suspected drunken driver hits him with vehicle outside of Army fort
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU/Gray News) - A 29-year-old soldier was hit and killed by an alleged drunken driver at the main gate of an Army installation in Alaska. According to Fairbanks police, the crash occurred just after 5 p.m. on Monday and involved three vehicles just outside the Gaffney Road Gate at Fort Wainwright.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski is asking lawmakers to pass legislation to help tribal members who are bitten by their stray village dogs. She said, “an average of 4,800 tribal members are hospitalized or receive outpatient care from dog bites each year. Some studies indicate that tribal areas experience a death rate from dog attacks that is 35 times higher than the rest of the nation, with most of these cases are in Alaska.”
