KURE BEACH, N.C. (WECT) - Kure Beach Ocean Rescue is on the scene of a possible drowning near the Kure Beach Pier on Thursday afternoon, July 4. Per the sheriff’s office, they have a boat and drone out on the scene, and the Wilmington Police Department and Coast Guard responded with boats as well.

Town of Goldsboro announces passing of former mayor Al King
GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — According to the Town of Goldsboro, former mayor Al King passed away Wednesday. King served as mayor from 2002 to 2015. According to the City Government of Goldsboro, N.C. on Facebook, King was also part of the city’s Human Resources Department for 21 years before becoming the first and only Black mayor of Goldsboro. Bertie County hosts annual Senior's Prom event
It was an evening of glitz, glam and bling as Bertie County seniors gathered for the annual Senior’s Prom last Friday evening at Chief’s Restaurant. Over 100 seniors lavishly dressed in gowns and suits danced the night away to music provided by DJ Storm and Cole Brown. Heritage House catered the event and Bertie County Manager Juan Vaughan II stopped in to mingle with the crowd. Swimming advisories issued for three Dare County beaches
DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The Fourth of July Weekend is here and the state says you should stay out of the water at three beaches on the Outer Banks. The beaches are the sound-side swimming area in Colington Harbour at the end of Colington Drive in Kill Devil Hills, and ocean swimming areas in Nags Head on East Abalone Street and East Curlew Street.
