    Pelham swimmer Douglass medals in Olympics; White Plains' Weinstein competes in 200 free

    Westchester has already contributed to the Olympic medal count for Team USA in Paris.

    Kate Douglass picked up a silver on Sunday in the women's 4x100-meter freestyle relay along with Gretchen Walsh, Torre Huske and Simone Manuel. It's the Pelham resident's second career medal. She picked up bronze in Tokyo as part of the 200 IM relay.

    Next up for the 22-year-old University of Virginia product are the 100-meter freestyle heats and semifinals on Tuesday. The finals are Wednesday. Douglass is also expected to compete in the 200-meter breaststroke and 200-meter individual medley.

    Claire Weinstein finished eighth Monday in the women's 200-meter freestyle in 1:56.60. The 17-year-old from White Plains is the youngest swimmer in the field and was the No. 3 qualifier for the final. Mollie O'Callaghan of Australia won the gold in 1:53.27.

    Weinstein, who lives and trains in Nevada, is expected to compete in the 4x200 freestyle relay on Thursday.
