Crews beat back fire threatening northwestern South Dakota community
Crews are working to contain a fire that’s burned more than 12 square miles in northwest south Dakota. A fire in the northwestern part of the state came uncomfortably close to the town of Buffalo. Fortunately, nobody has been hurt, but officials said fighting the fire has been hard.

PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota lawmakers have some tough decisions ahead of them on prison construction. The women’s prison under construction in Rapid City is over budget, and so far there’s not a firm price for the men’s facility. Appropriations Committee member, Representative John Mills of Brookings, wants legislators to hold off on making any commitments.
