Village Creek Days brings beach fun to Chester
The third year of Village Creek Days brought live music, a drum line and a parade back to Chester for a fun-filled three-day event. This year, which had the Some Beach theme, began with a golf tournament, supper and music on July 26. Saturday started off with a parade, followed by a craft and vendor fair for the adults with a dunk tank and inflatables for the kids. Competitions like a bean bag tournament and a tug of war happened earlier in the afternoon, as did a kids' pedal pull. A live band performed in the evening, which ended with fireworks. Sunday kicked off with a fireman's breakfast and car show, with church at the United Methodist Church afterward. A beach volleyball competition brought more beach spirit, with bingo, a raffle drawing and food to wrap up the event.
Good News: Old post office getting new solar energy system
A historic building in downtown Watertown will soon get a high-tech upgrade. The former Watertown post office at 26 South Broadway, now home of the Turbak Law Office, is the beneficiary of a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Energy for America Program or REAP. The $69,400 grant will be used to help install a 48-kilowatt roof-mounted, fixed-tilt solar array. The solar array is projected to save $4,682 in energy costs and 66,890 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, which is enough energy to power six homes.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The only emergency care veterinary clinic in Rapid City just moved to a new facility at the beginning of the month and with that come some changes. Britton Swim Club Third At State Meet
The Britton Swim Team brought home a third place trophy from the South Dakota Seasonal Championship Meet held in Chamberlain Friday through Sunday. Six local swimmers were also among the top individuals in the meet. Trey Atkinson was first in the boys 17 & Over division, Elijah Fox was second in boys 15-16, Tanner Atkinson fourth in boys 15-16, Aiden Strong fourth in boys 13-14, Emersyn Eimers fourth in girls 9-10, and Zoey Block fourth in girls 7-8. Chamberlain took the team title with 4388.5 points followed by Webster at 2275, Britton 932, Watertown Area 597, Miller 427.5, and Aberdeen 134.
