WHITE SWAN, Wash. -- Yakima County Fire District 5 said a new scam is going around White Swan.

According to YCFD5 random people are going door to door in White Swan and asking residents for their information so they can receive disaster assistance.

This is specifically regarding assistance after the Slide Ranch fire that destroyed more than 16 structures, including family homes.

Fire officials said they will never go door to door and ask for personal information.

Officials said these people are claiming to be part of YCFD5 but are not. If you encounter one of these people, ask for verification or proof and report them to the Yakama Nation Police.
