Missoula Police Defuse Dramatic Knife Altercation at Gas Station
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 16, 2024, Missoula Police Department Officers responded to a gas station in the 1500 block of Toole Ave. Officers were informed that a 911 caller had reported that a male had pulled a knife on another person. The 911 caller further reported that the two individuals began fighting again and that one had a stick.
Missoula Police Bust Habitual Traffic Offender for a 6th DUI
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 13, 2024, at approximately 3:35 PM, a Missoula Police Department officer located a suspected impaired driving vehicle that was reported to 911. He initiated his emergency lights and the vehicle yielded in the mall parking lot near Dillards. The officer approached the vehicle and observed two occupants inside. The female in the driver's seat would be positively identified by Montana Driver's License as 48-year-old Candice Hanks.

Horse Gulch Fire Now 80% Contained; 2 New Fires Reported
HORSE GULCH FIRE (Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest) Over the weekend, containment significantly increased on the Horse Gulch Fire near Canyon Ferry Reservoir, and as of Sunday morning, the fire is 80% contained. Crews are now focused on mop-up operations to extinguish any leftover heat along the eastern flank of the fire that could threaten containment lines in the event of adverse weather. Crews continue with suppression repair along the southern edge of the fire by redistributing debris berms created by fire line construction.

Small fire on Lion Mountain quickly contained Saturday evening
A 0.25-acre fire was reported on Lion Mountain, 2 miles west of Whitefish on Saturday at 7:19 p.m. The fire was located between Lion Mountain Trail system and Skyles Lake.The DNRC and Whitefish Fire Department were quick to respond. A helicopter was on scene scooping water from Skyles Lake and transporting it to the fire. Also on scene were multiple engines. The crews quickly stopped the forward rate of spread and the fire was held to .25 acres in size.This fire is still currently under investigation and will remain under patrol. Smoke may still be seen for the next few days. The DNRC advises people to avoid the area to allow firefighters safe access.This fire comes amongst a heat dome across the state that has cast near triple digits in the Valley for the last two weeks. Forests are incredibly dry due to the hot temperatures and wind. The majority of fires are human caused. The DNRC would like to remind people to do their part by drowning campfires, keeping vehicles out of tall grass and staying up to date on conditions.Fire Danger is currently HIGH.
