WHITESVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A woman was charged after staying inside a school because she had nowhere else to go.

On July 8, 2024, at around 8:40 p.m., Deputy R. B. Dotson received a call from a Whitesville Town Council Member reporting that an unidentified person had entered Whitesville Elementary School through a rear window at 37949 Coal River Road in Whitesville, WV.

The council member mentioned that a rear window was open, and a shopping cart with personal items was found in the school’s parking lot.

By 9:22 p.m., Deputy Dotson arrived and observed the open rear window on the first floor and the shopping cart filled with personal belongings. After entering the school through the window and a door opened by a key holder, Deputy Dotson and Deputy R. T. Foye cleared the premises.

A Council Member informed them that a woman named Christina Crum, the accused, was seen coming from the side of the school, possibly having exited through a side door while the officers were searching the premises. Deputy Dotson approached the accused, who confessed to loitering and trespassing on the school property after hours. The accused admitted to being under the influence of substances and mentioned that she was staying on the school property while searching for a place to stay.

Notably, the accused is neither a staff member nor a student at Whitesville Elementary School. She acknowledged that the shopping cart contained her personal belongings, which she had with her on the premises.

This report is based on Deputy Dotson’s observations, the accused’s statements, and information provided by two members of the Whitesville Town Council. The incident took place within the city limits of Whitesville, Boone County , WV.
