'We were in trouble' | Black Lodge founder speaks out after business closure
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After Black Lodge's announcement on Tuesday that the business will be shutting down, its founder, Matt Martin, said the closure was years in the making. Black Lodge off Cleveland in Midtown has been at the Cleveland St. location for the last five years and became a local favorite, offering more than 30,000 videos in addition to games, food, drinks and more.

Memphis Man Who Robbed Jonesboro Retailer Gets Life Sentence
JONESBORO, Ark. — A Memphis man with an extensive criminal history was sentenced to life in prison today for an aggravated robbery committed earlier this year in Jonesboro. Pierre Darnell Wright, 34, of Memphis, was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, August 15, 2024, according to the prosecutor’s office. He was convicted of aggravated robbery, a Class Y felony, after less than 20 minutes of jury deliberations. He also was convicted of a misdemeanor theft charge, receiving a 12-month suspended sentence on that charge.
