ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Sturgis’ Arina Haugen captured the All-Around Rookie Cowgirl honors at this year’s National High School Finals Rodeo. Haugen qualified for the finals in three different events, breakaway roping, pole bending and barrel racing. She finished with 840 total points, finishing 350 points ahead of second place Kinley Follman (North Dakota). Haugen finished fourth in the All-Around Cowgirl standings.

Police involved in standoff after shots fired in west Rapid City
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - A large law enforcement presence was called to 5200 block of Pinedale Circle after reports of gunshots were heard in the area. Police say at around 11:30 Sunday morning a person entered a home on Pinedale Circle and fired multiple rounds.
