“Why Does Voting Matter” Art Contest Display at Whitman County Library
The League of Women Voters of Pullman and Whitman County recently held their Third Annual Visual Arts Competition with the theme “Why Does Voting Matter?”. 53 artworks were collected from Whitman County students in third through twelfth grade and will be on display at the Libey Gallery in The Center at Whitman County Library in Colfax.
Amazon-Linked Developers Want to Build Distribution Warehouse Between Pullman and Moscow
PULLMAN - Amazon-linked development companies have filed an application to build a distribution warehouse off the Moscow-Pullman Highway. “Project Cougar” is being proposed by Ambrose Property Group and Kimley-Horn. The companies have built distribution centers for Amazon around the country. The application to Whitman County doesn’t include any reference to the online retail giant based out of Seattle.
Case Against Pullman Stabbing Suspect Quickly Elevated To Attempted Murder
The case against the 38 year old Pullman man accused of stabbing a Moscow man was quickly elevated to attempted murder. Cesar Marmolejos made his first appearance in Whitman County Superior Court on Tuesday morning after being initially arrested for 1st degree felony assault with deadly weapon. Shortly before the hearing the Pullman Police Department sent an amended probable cause affidavit to the Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office for attempted 2nd degree murder.
Firework Caused Blaze Destroys Building Near LaCrosse
A fireworks caused blaze destroyed a building near LaCrosse on Thursday. The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office reports on Facebook that Volunteer Firefighters battled the blaze on State Route 26 near milepost 121. A firework sparked a field fire which spread to a structure. Deputies didn’t specify what type of structure was burned.
Federal Funding Allocated To Local Airports
Two local airports have received funding allocations from the federal government. The Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport has been allocated over 600,000 dollars for a master plan update. The Port of Whitman County’s Business Air Center in Colfax has been allocated about 50,000 dollars. That money will used to study the feasibility of locating a weather station at the airport outside Colfax.
37 Year Old Garfield Man Arrested On Drug Charges And Suspected In Golf Carts Theft From Colfax
A 37 year old Garfield man has been arrested for allegedly stealing golf carts from the Colfax Golf Course. Whitman County Sheriff’s Deputies obtained and executed a search warrant at a home on Garfield-Farmington Road Sunday night. Deputies were investigating Michael Rosser as a suspected drug dealer when they learned about his alleged involvement in the theft. While searching Rosser’s home East of Garfield deputies reportedly found the truck and trailer used to steal the golf carts. The cab of the truck had been burned and damaged. Deputies believe Rosser was trying to prevent the truck from being identified in the theft case. Packaged fentanyl and methamphetamine were also reportedly discovered in Rosser’s home. He was arrested on three counts of 2nd degree felony burglary and two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
