EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — A prominent aid group along the U.S.-Mexico border asked a Texas judge on Wednesday to push back on a widening Republican-led investigation into nonprofits that help migrants, weeks after a separate court rejected efforts by the state to shutter an El Paso shelter. Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley provides temporary shelter and food to as many as 2,000 migrants a day when border crossings are high. Now, it's Tony Cammarota, who's stepping down as pastor of Texas' Stonebriar Community Church. Per NBC, the church terminated Cammarota after he "confessed to church leadership of a moral failure. Hillwood announces for huge new development at Hunter Ranch
Hillwood announced Thursday that it has finalized plans for the Hunter Ranch property in south Denton. The 3,200-acre property is one of the original land holdings purchased by the Perot family in 1987. At build-out, the development will add 6,000 homes in a variety of product styles, sizes and price ranges, according to a Hillwood news release.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Two Fort Worth moms are still reeling from trauma after police say they were robbed and kidnapped at gunpoint over the weekend. On Sunday, at around 5:30 a.m., the two sisters-in-law who asked not to be identified out of concern for their safety, met at Trinity Park for their weekly run. The women, who drove separately, were preparing to stretch before their run when suddenly a white Cadillac parked directly behind one of their vehicles.
West Nile Virus Detected in Denton Mosquitoes: Residents Urged to Take Precautions
As the summer heats up, so does the buzz of pesky mosquitoes, but this isn’t your usual annoyance. The City of Denton has reported the detection of West Nile Virus in mosquitoes collected from several traps around the city. The recent findings include positive tests from three additional locations: near the intersection of Montecito Drive and Ryan Road, Woodland Street at Brown Drive, and the Pecan Creek Water Reclamation Plant at S. Mayhill Road with Spencer Road. According to the City of Denton, Texas, these specimens were confirmed last week to indeed carry the West Nile Virus.
