Police Arrest Man for Threatening Note On Political Signs in Saginaw Township
A threatening note on a political sign in Saginaw Township got a 50-year-old man arrested on Sunday. Police say on Saturday, a contract worker with Sears at the Fashion Square Mall noticed several political signs on the company property near the curb at Bay and Tittabawassee roads and removed them, placing them by a utility pole for the owner to claim them. When the worker arrived the next day, the signs were back in place. Police say a handwritten note was attched to one of the signs, saying the person who put it there had a 9mm gun and was surveilling the area.

2 drivers killed in intersection crash in Gladwin County
GLADWIN COUNTY — On July 29 at 6:14 p.m., Gladwin County Central Dispatch received a report of a traffic crash involving injuries at the intersection of South Hackaday Road and West Howard Road, according to the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office. The Gladwin Fire Department, Beaverton Fire Department, Gladwin EMS and deputies from the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies said they assisted with life-saving efforts for the two drivers involved in the crash. There were no passengers involved, deputies said. A 73-year-old Beaverton man was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said, and a 48-year-old Coleman man was taken by ambulance to the My Michigan Medical Center in Gladwin, where he was later pronounced dead. An investigation revealed the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta driven by the 48-year-old man was traveling west on East Howard Road, and a 2004 Suzuki XL7 driven by the 73-year-old was traveling south on South Hackaday Road, deputies said.

CLARE, MI – The Clare Public Schools Board of Education acted last week, accepting the resignation of the district’s superintendent in the wake of an investigation. The district has yet to disclose the nature of an investigation into Jim Walter, whose resignation was accepted by the district board during a special meeting Friday, July 26. During the same meeting, the district voted to appoint Thomas House interim superintendent.

PETOSKEY, MI – Petoskey is looking for a muralist to add some color to a pedestrian tunnel that connects its downtown to Lake Michigan. The walkway tunnel leads to Bayfront Park on Little Traverse Bay; it also connects downtown to the Little Traverse Wheelway. For the past year, it has been home to the city’s public piano. The planned mural will cover its walls and ceiling – about 1,955 square feet.
This busy Saginaw County intersection will see a $434K update by February
KOCHVILLE TOWNSHIP, MI — Road crews starting Thursday, Aug. 1, plan to update a busy intersection here with new signage and infrastructure. Using $434,000 in state funds, crews will install a full traffic signal at the intersection of Kochville Road and M-84, a state-operated roadway otherwise known as Bay Road, Michigan Department of Transportation officials said.
