Police Arrest Man for Threatening Note On Political Signs in Saginaw Township
A threatening note on a political sign in Saginaw Township got a 50-year-old man arrested on Sunday. Police say on Saturday, a contract worker with Sears at the Fashion Square Mall noticed several political signs on the company property near the curb at Bay and Tittabawassee roads and removed them, placing them by a utility pole for the owner to claim them. When the worker arrived the next day, the signs were back in place. Police say a handwritten note was attched to one of the signs, saying the person who put it there had a 9mm gun and was surveilling the area.
2 juveniles arrested in string of thefts, break-ins in Roscommon Co.
ROSCOMMON COUNTY — The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office, the Denton Township Police Department, and the Michigan State Police said Tuesday they have been participating in a joint investigation of multiple stolen vehicles, larcenies from vehicles and larceny of firearms in the Prudenville area. Many vehicles were broken into during overnight hours on many occasions, and several vehicles were stolen over the last many months, deputies said. Two juvenile suspects were charged by the Roscommon County Prosecutor’s Office for many of these crimes, deputies said. Investigators believe many additional crimes carried out by the suspects went unreported. These incidents occurred throughout Prudenville in subdivisions along the M-55 corridor as well as in neighborhoods off of South Gladwin Road.
2 drivers killed in intersection crash in Gladwin County
GLADWIN COUNTY — On July 29 at 6:14 p.m., Gladwin County Central Dispatch received a report of a traffic crash involving injuries at the intersection of South Hackaday Road and West Howard Road, according to the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office. The Gladwin Fire Department, Beaverton Fire Department, Gladwin EMS and deputies from the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies said they assisted with life-saving efforts for the two drivers involved in the crash. There were no passengers involved, deputies said. A 73-year-old Beaverton man was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said, and a 48-year-old Coleman man was taken by ambulance to the My Michigan Medical Center in Gladwin, where he was later pronounced dead. An investigation revealed the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta driven by the 48-year-old man was traveling west on East Howard Road, and a 2004 Suzuki XL7 driven by the 73-year-old was traveling south on South Hackaday Road, deputies said.
