MADISON COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Harvest-Monrovia Water Authority is asking customers to voluntarily conserve their use of water.

According to officials, the request is necessary due to high water consumption from the watering of lawns and a decreasing supply of water available in the wells the Authority utilizes.

Officials say that the authority has a four-level conservation plan, currently, it’s on level two.

At level two, the authority says that customers can still water their lawns on Monday and Wednesday for even-numbered addresses and Tuesday and Thursday for odd-numbered addresses.

According to officials, the next level in the conservation plan is mandatory reductions. Officials hope that this request for voluntary reductions will reduce demand enough to prevent mandatory reductions.
