Pedestrian identified in deadly wreck on Highway 231

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says a woman is dead after she was hit by a car Friday evening.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says 30-year-old Megan S. Persiani from Union Grove was walking along U.S. 231 near Staid Road when she was hit by a car.

ALEA said the car was driven by a man from Arab.

Persiani was pronounced dead on the scene. Troopers say the driver was also injured and was taken to Huntsville Hospital to be treated.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said northbound Highway 231 was shut down due to the wreck but reopened around 7:11 p.m. Friday.

Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division say this is an ongoing investigation.
