MADISON COUNTY, Ala (WHNT) — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says a man is in custody after a standoff after the U.S. Marshals Service tried to serve a search warrant near Triana.

MCSO Spokesperson Brent Patterson said the Marshals escorted a person from the building they had attempted to serve the warrant after a long standoff.

He said deputies assisted the Marshals with a search warrant operation in the area of 8th Street and Zierdt Road in the Triana area on Wednesday. The person wanted in the warrant then barricaded himself inside a home for hours.

Patterson said the operation is being done in collaboration with other local agencies.

A News 19 crew on the scene also saw units from the Huntsville Police Department and the Madison Police Department. The crew said it appeared a man was barricaded into a house in the area.

Neighbors in the area said the incident first began around 11 a.m. Wednesday

News 19’s Nicki Marker said it appeared a man was carried out of the residence at around 7:34 p.m. Shortly after Patterson confirmed the Marshals had someone in custody. He could not confirm the identity of the person wanted as part of the warrant.

The sheriff’s office said there is limited information available at this time and it will provide updates as they become available.
