According to the Huntsville Police Department (HPD), evidence at the scene of the fire led investigators to believe it was set intentionally.

“All leads are being followed and any suspect information available will be released at the conclusion of the investigation,” the department said.

Police also said the apartment staff at Biltmore Place is taking measures to help residents who were affected find housing.

According to HEMSI spokesperson Don Webster, two paramedics who were on the scene were taken to Huntsville Hospital for heat-related injuries. They are currently in stable condition.

HPD says the investigation is still in its early stages.
