Florence Fire: Nearby power line sets field on fire

FLORENCE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Florence Fire Marshal said a nearby power line caused a field to catch on fire Monday.

Florence Fire Marshal Ryan Orrick said the fire started on the ground near a power line pole across from the Sportsplex in Florence.

Orrick said there were no downed lines and it took about 30 minutes to put out the fire. He said because it is extremely dry, he discourages any open burning.
