    Best colleges in Alabama? See the list for the top universities

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Niche has released their annual list for the top universities throughout the country and Auburn University is on the top once again for the state of Alabama.

    Every year Niche creates national rankings for the best colleges and universities by collecting reviews from students and data from the U.S. Department of Education and National Science Foundation to grade colleges based on factors such as academics, value, student life and diversity.

    A qualification that one may not initially consider is the school’s party scene. The amount of activities, Greek life, bars, sporting events also play a role.

    The University of Alabama ranked highly in the state for its party life scene.

    Here is a list of the top 15 universities in the state according to Niche:

    • Auburn University
    • University of Alabama – Birmingham
    • The University of Alabama
    • The University of Alabama – Huntsville
    • University of South Alabama
    • The University of West Alabama
    • Troy University
    • Samford University
    • Jacksonville State University
    • Tuskegee University
    • University of North Alabama
    • Spring Hill College
    • Auburn University at Montgomery
    • University of Montevallo
    • Birmingham Southern College

    Auburn University and The University of Alabama, were on the best value list in the nation with both ranking in the 600 range.

    When is comes to the best athletic programs, the University of Alabama grabs another top spot at number 3 in the nation. Most diverse goes to Faulkner University ranking at number 269.

    The annual rankings is a unique way for alumni to cheer for an alma mater or for high school seniors to narrow down their college lists.
