    Incumbent McCamy wins another term as Scottsboro Mayor

    SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) — Scottsboro Mayor Jim McCamy is looking at a second term as head of the city after Tuesday’s municipal election.

    He tallied 1,450 votes, good for 54% and a win over challenger John Moses. Moses garnered 1,228 votes or 46%.

    McCamy retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in December 2019 as Manager of TVA Crisis and Emergency Management.

    Before his time at TVA, McCamy says he served as U.S. Representative Bud Cramer’s Congressional District Director for six years. As the District Director, he managed Congressional District Staff and multiple district offices across North Alabama.

    “Jim was the local Congressional liaison to the many government agencies and Commands on Redstone Arsenal, the National Weather Service and other federal agencies and officials, as well as local and state government officials,” according to his bio on the Scottsboro Votes website .

    He has also served as served the State of Alabama as an Area Coordinator for the State of Alabama Emergency Management Agency and Director of the Jackson County EMA.

    McCamy received his bachelor’s degree from Athens State University in Public Safety Administration.

    The mayor told News 19 on Monday that the role of mayor was a natural fit for him, but he faced a challenge in Tuesday’s Municipal Election in Moses.

    Moses has worked for the city’s building department for 30 years, the last 10 of which he served as chief building inspector.
