    Character witnesses testify in penalty phase of ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ trial

    DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Character witnesses will testify on Friday during the penalty phase of a man convicted for his role in killing seven people.

    On Wednesday, a jury found Fredric Rogers guilty of three counts of capital murder after seven days of testimony, arguments and four hours of jury deliberation.

    The State of Alabama is seeking the death penalty against Rogers. During this phase of the trial, the jury will decide his sentence. The jury has to have at least 10 people in agreement for him to receive the death penalty. Nine or less and he will receive life without parole.
