Man taken to Huntsville Hospital after police say he was assaulted with knife

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Officials with HEMSI say a man has been taken to the hospital after being wounded by a knife in what police are investigating as an assault.

HEMSI Spokesperson Don Webster said HEMSI responded to a call at 2:41 p.m. at the parking lot for Donny’s Diamond Gallery on South Memorial Parkway. He said crews transported a man with knife wounds from the scene to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services.

A Huntsville Police Department (HPD) spokesperson said officers responded to an assault in the area.

The department said the incident began with two people arguing in a vehicle. HPD said when they got out of the vehicle one person assaulted the other man with a knife.

According to Webster, the man is in stable condition.

HPD said the other person in the incident has been detained.
