DECATUR, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Decatur Police Department said a motorcyclist was killed and another person was injured Friday afternoon in a wreck involving an 18-wheeler that caught fire on Highway 67.

Officers with the Priceville Police Department observed and responded to the wreck at Upper River Road and Highway 67 around 3:25 p.m. This area is near the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge and Publix Shopping Center in Priceville.

Decatur Police and Decatur Fire & Rescue were also dispatched to the scene.

After they arrived, DPD said the officers determined a motorcycle and SUV were in a wreck. The impact of the wreck pushed them both into an 18-wheeler carrying diesel fuel, causing it to catch fire.

The driver of the motorcycle, 20-year-old Jacob Lee Clarke, was pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn. The driver of the SUV was taken to Decatur-Morgan Hospital to receive treatment.
