BOAZ, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Boaz Police Department said it arrested a man after it found methamphetamine and stolen mail in his vehicle.

Ken Michael Haynie is charged with nine counts of fourth-degree theft of property, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of drug paraphernalia and giving a false name to law enforcement.

BPD said that two of its detectives were investigating multiple thefts from mailboxes on and around Martin Road. The detectives got video of a suspect vehicle from victims, developed a description and put out a BOLO.

On September 4, two other Boaz officers out on patrol responded to a call about a man fighting a woman in the Martin’s Family Clothing parking lot. The man, identified as Haynie, told officers he had an argument with his girlfriend.

According to BPD, the officers got permission to search Haynie’s vehicle and found a pill bottle with methamphetamine in it. While searching, the officers say they realized Haynie’s vehicle matched the description of the one from the mail thefts.

The department said several pieces of mail taken from Martin Road were also found in Haynie’s vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing, and BPD said more arrests are expected.
