MADISON, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Think back to when you were in high school – maybe that was last year, or it’s been ten, twenty, maybe thirty years since you graduated.

No matter how old you are, we bet that you can remember your biggest rivals, that school right down the street, and you always needed your team to beat theirs.

In the City of Madison, it’s Bob Jones and James Clemens.

Since James Clemens opened its doors, the community has been split in two and every time the two schools meet – bragging rights are on the line and the 2024 football season is certainly no exception.

The Madison Bowl was the Jack’s Game of the Week in Week 2 – so who won the rivalry showdown to stay undefeated?

With Bob Jones’s offense out on the field – Johnny Jackson lets it fly toward the endzone, and Rhys Dorsey is wide open. Dorsey hauls in the grab in the back of the endzone, and the Patriots strike first to go up 7-0.

James Clemens looks to respond in the next possession as Ga’kobey Gill feeds MJ Gideon, and he’s gonna do the rest with the 38-yard house call – and just like that, we’ve got a tie game at 7-all.

We gotta give a shoutout to the James Clemens SRO who was getting in on the student section push-ups, part of that incredible energy at Madison City Stadium tonight.

Next we head to the second quarter, with James Clemens up 14-10. The Jets are gonna extend their lead as Gill looks to the sky and connects with Alex Lively downfield. Lively jogs across the goal line untouched to put James Clemens on top 21-10 after.

The Jets blocked the Patriot’s field goal to keep it tied and send it to overtime where JC won it 34-31.
