    Middle school student accused of making terrorist threats arrested in Muscle Shoals

    MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. ( WHNT ) — A Muscle Shoals Middle School student accused of making terrorist threats has been arrested.

    According to the Muscle Shoals Police Department (MSPD), the threats the student made towards the middle school were overheard by other students.

    On Wednesday morning, the parents of the students that overheard the threats notified school officials along with MSPD.

    MSPD told News 19 that the student was arrested at his home before the school day started on Wednesday morning.

    The student was taken to the Muscle Shoals Police Department and was later turned over to the Colbert County Juvenile Probation office with charges pending.

    The Muscle Shoals Police Department takes any and all threats made towards our schools very seriously. Each threat will be vigorously investigated until we are certain the matter is closed, with the upmost confidence in the safety of our school children and school staff. As always, we appreciate the Muscle Shoals City School System in their effort to combat these threats, and we thank the parents for coming forward in this situation to provide necessary information deemed vital to this case.

    Muscle Shoals City Schools released the following statement:

    A Muscle Shoals Middle School student has been taken into custody by Muscle Shoals Police after making a threat toward the school. Muscle Shoals City Schools and the Muscle Shoals Police take all threats seriously. Other students heard the threat and told their parents. Parents reported the threat to school officials who in turn notified authorities. The student in question was quickly taken into custody at his home early this morning before school started by Muscle Shoals Police Department Patrol Officers and Detectives. As a precaution, Muscle Shoals Police Department provided additional patrol officers at Muscle Shoals Middle School throughout the morning.

    The student was transported to the Muscle Shoals Police Department, and later turned over to the Colbert County Juvenile Probation Office with Terrorist Threats charges pending. Investigation into the matter will continue. Safety and security of students and staff is a top priority. Muscle Shoals City Schools’ administration appreciates the swift and efficient actions of the officers of the Muscle Shoals Police Department and the parents who reported the initial threat information to school officials.

    They to make examples out of ALL STUDENTS that threat schools with any kind of violence at anytime in my opinion!!!!!!!
