    Athens Shred Day to take place Saturday, September 21

    ATHENS, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Athens State University will host Athens Shred Day on Saturday, September 21.

    Athens Shred Day will give the public a chance to shred documents, participate in a drug take back, recycle electronics and, donate to a food drive.

    According to officials, the Athens Shred day will take place at Athens State University located at 300 North Beaty Street in Athens, Alabama from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Officials would like to remind the public to enter campus from Hobbs Street.

    Document shredding details can be read below:

    • Limit of 3 kitchen size bags or 3 file storage boxes per vehicle
    • Shredding expected until shred trucks reach capacity
    • Please remove plastic, metal, and binders

    Drug take-back details can be read below:

    • Prescription, veterinary, and over-the-counter medications
    • Needles and liquids not accepted

    Electronic Recycling details can be read below:

    • Items must be less than 40 pounds
    • $10 fee for each plasma or flat screen TV
    • Large-back TVs, CRT monitors, and appliances not accepted

    Food drive details can be read below:

    • Please donate non-perishable food items
    • All donations will benefit LCCI, Inc. (Limestone County Churches Involved, Inc.)

    The drive-thru event is free to the public.
