    Man booked into Mississippi jail following multi-state chase, deputy involved shooting

    COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — A man accused of leading authorities on a multi-state chase has been booked into a jail in Mississippi.

    John William Griffin was booked into the Tishomingo County Jail on a $1,000,788 bond on multiple charges on Tuesday, September 10.

    Colbert County Sheriffs Office said that the chase started in Mississippi and ended in a deputy-involved shooting in Colbert County after Griffin fired shots at deputies.

    Griffin was injured from the shooting and was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. He was released on September 9. He was then taken into custody by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and extradited to Tishomingo County, Mississippi.

    He was charged with felony fleeing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and five counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement.
