Fort Payne police arrest student for making threats towards middle school

FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WHNT) — Police say a student was arrested after making threats towards Fort Payne Middle School Monday afternoon.

According to the Fort Payne Police Department, a school resource officer responded to a possible threat toward the middle school. After an investigation, the department said a student was arrested for the threat in conjunction with the Fort Payne City Schools System.

The school system said there is no ongoing threat to the safety of the school community. The school system also said the student will face significant disciplinary consequences consistent with its Code of Conduct.
