Courtland man killed in car crash

COURTLAND, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says a man was killed in a car crash Monday afternoon.

According to the agency, Melvin L. Reedus Jr., 40, was killed when the car he was driving went off the road and hit a mailbox, a utility pole, a gas line and then a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA said the crash happened at around 5:40 p.m. on AL-33 near County Road 286, about four miles southeast of Courtland.

ALEA will continue to investigate the crash.
