LCSO asks parents to be involved in their children’s digital lives and not let them become victims by being exposed to ‘extreme evil at such a young and influential age.’
The sheriff’s office said this after the arrests:
Human trafficking, often called modern-day slavery, is known as the fastest-growing criminal enterprise in the world. Each year, 100,000 to 300,000 American children are at risk of being trafficked for commercial sex in the United States. The average age for a girl to enter the commercial sex trade is 12-14 years old, while boys are even younger at 11-13 years old. If you suspect that a person may be a victim of human trafficking, call local law enforcement or the National Human Trafficking Hot Line at 1-888-373-7888. You should never attempt to confront a suspected trafficker or rescue a suspected victim. Doing so could put you and the victim’s safety at risk. By immediately informing law enforcement of your suspicions, you can safely assist in the recovery of the victim and the dismantling of the trafficking operation.
