One student injured, three arrested following fight at Austin High School

DECATUR, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Decatur City School (DCS) officials say one student was injured and three students were arrested after a fight at Austin High School on Tuesday.

A system spokesperson said the altercation began after two students got into a fight in the cafeteria of Austin High School Tuesday.

DCS said school officials moved quickly to separate the students but one student continued the fight and used a small eyeglasses screwdriver to slash the other student, causing a minor cut to their face.

The spokesperson said a third student, a sister to one of the other students involved, also intervened in the fight.

DCS said all three students were arrested and removed from campus.

The school system said it is believed the fight was a spillover from an off-campus incident.
