Hiley Mazda Key Athlete of the Week: Florence’s K’Lon Triplett

FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — Florence Football’s K’Lon Triplett came up big in week four, rushing for 120 yards and finding the end zone 3 times for the Falcons in their overtime win against Bob Jones.

The Falcons needed a stellar performance from the junior running back, and he delivered in the clutch.

“I just want to be that guy and that teammate that coaches and my teammates can depend on,” Triplett said. “I’m doing it to inspire others that they can do the same thing and all you got to do is put the work in and follow your dreams.”

Although Triplett is only a junior, he’s Florence’s offensive workhorse and has become a leader for his squad – making his mark on the field and in the classroom.

Florence Football Head Coach Kenny Morson spoke highly of his tailback, saying the team heavily depends on what he brings to the program. Morson says Triplett’s approach to the game is influential.

“He’s an integral part of the offense and everything runs through him,” Morson said. “Our play action comes off of him and everything we do in the offense revolves around him. His work ethic every day in practice is phenomenal.”

Triplett knows putting big-time performances on tape will be key to securing his first college offer to play the game he loves at the next level. He credits his family, coaches, and teammates for fueling his daily drive.

“You got that one crowd that really looks up to you and loves you for the way you are,” Triplett told News 19. “They help me everyday to strive and get better everyday and they help me be successful.”

Florence will look to remain unbeaten in regional play when they take on Austin on Friday night in a showdown.
