    MCSS: Groundbreaking ceremony for new intermediate school postponed due to weather

    HARVEST, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Madison County School System said its groundbreaking ceremony for a new school Thursday has been postponed due to weather.

    The MCSS said its groundbreaking for a new intermediate school on McKee Road will be rescheduled for another date.

    The school system said that the reason for the ceremony rescheduling is incoming inclement weather. There is no word on when the ceremony date will be.

    Due to inclement weather forecasts, the Madison County School System regretfully postpones the groundbreaking ceremony for the new intermediate school on McKee Road. This exciting event, originally scheduled for Thursday, September 26, 2024, will be rescheduled for a later date.

    The new school will serve students in grades four through six and play a key role in supporting the rapidly growing Toney and Harvest communities. It will provide exceptional learning opportunities and contribute to academic excellence and community development.

    Madison County School System

    On July 11, the Madison County Board of Education approved the construction of the new intermediate school in Harvest, the system’s first new construction school since 2014.

    Colbert County Sheriff’s Office hosts annual community Halloween festival

    “It’s an exciting time for the Madison County School System,” Madison County School Board Vice President, Heath Jones, told News 19.

    The school is set to have 45 classrooms, 4 special needs classrooms, a band room, an art room and a large gymnasium. The school will serve about 1,260 students.
