    Dump truck accident leaves over 6,000 customers in Huntsville without power

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — A vehicle accident involving a dump truck left over 6,000 customers in Huntsville without power on Friday.

    According to a Huntsville Utilities spokesperson, a vehicle accident happened along Stringfield Road when the dump truck hit a switch near a substation that provides power to much of Northwest Huntsville.

    The outages were reported to be located near Winchester Road NW and Ardmore Highway.

    The Huntsville Utilities outage map stated that 6,219 customers were affected by the outage.

    Both outages were reported shortly after 11:09 a.m.

    Huntsville Utilities told News 19 that power should be restored shortly.

    There is no word of the condition of the driver of the dump truck at this time.
