LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) says a man was arrested for breaking into a home in the Hatton community Sunday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, Timothy Eric Scott, of Leighton, was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree theft.

Body found in creek near University Drive

LCSO said the home invasion happened around 7:40 a.m. on County Road 584 in the Hatton community. Authorities said the homeowner was awakened by Scott and confronted him while the crime was taking place.

Officers said Scott was able to flee the scene, leaving behind his getaway car in the homeowner’s yard.

While investigating with the help of the Investigations Division and the community, deputies were able to find Scott at a nearby residence at around 10:30 a.m.

Scott is currently being held on a $10,000 bond.
