FORT PAYNE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Governor Kay Ivey is set to visit DeKalb County to finish her Back-to-School tour.

According to a release sent by the governor’s office, Ivey will tour pre-k classrooms at the Fort Payne Pre-K Center on Thursday at 11:45 a.m.

Back in August , the Pre-K Center was recognized by the state of Alabama as a participant in the Alabama First Class Pre-K program.

For 18 consecutive years, the Alabama First Class Pre-K program has led the nation in early childhood development.

All pre-k systems within the state participate in the program, which was created by the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education and teaches skills that can be applied in daily activities.
